For parents and guardians of children using Brave Joints
🔒 This notice explains your child's privacy rights and how we protect them under COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act).
When you use Brave Joints, here's what the app knows:
That's it! We don't know your last name, your school, your friends, or anything else.
Only your mom, dad, or guardian can see your stuff — nobody else.
We collect only what is necessary to provide the app's features: • First name and age/date of birth (to personalize the experience and comply with COPPA) • JIA type and diagnosis date (entered by parent during setup) • Daily check-in data: mood, pain level, energy, stiffness, body locations, notes • Exercise activity: which exercises were completed • Journal entries: text and mood stickers entered by the child • Worry monster entries: worries entered and "eaten" We do NOT collect: last name, school name, address, photos (unless a parent uploads a profile photo), or any contact information from the child.
Before we collect any information from a child under 13, we require the parent or legal guardian to: 1. Create the family account (parent must be 18+) 2. Provide verifiable consent on the COPPA consent screen during onboarding 3. Confirm they are the parent/legal guardian and consent to the data collection described above Consent is recorded with a timestamp and the parent's email address.
As a parent or guardian, you have the right to: • Review any personal information collected from your child — go to Settings → Privacy & Data • Edit or correct your child's information — go to Settings → My Family → Edit child profile • Delete your child's information — go to Settings → Privacy & Data → Delete My Account • Revoke consent and discontinue collection — delete the account at any time • Refuse to allow further data collection while keeping the account — contact us at privacy@bravejoints.app We will not condition participation in the app on the collection of more personal information than is reasonably necessary.
We do not share your child's personal information with: • Advertisers • Data brokers • Social media platforms • Other families using the app The "Ask Other Parents" community forum only shows parent display names — children's names are never displayed publicly. Technical service providers (Base44 for infrastructure, Anthropic for AI features) may process data as necessary to operate the service. These providers are contractually prohibited from using the data for any other purpose.
Your child's data is stored on secure servers with encryption at rest and in transit. Each family's data is isolated — other families cannot access your child's information.
To exercise parental rights, ask questions, or report a concern about your child's privacy: privacy@bravejoints.app We will respond within 5 business days.
