Brave Joints is a free, family-first app. We take your privacy seriously and collect only what's necessary to make the app work.
We collect information that you and your child directly enter into the app: • Parent account information: name, email address • Child information: first name, age/date of birth, JIA type, date of diagnosis • Health tracking data: daily check-ins (mood, pain level, energy, stiffness), medication logs, lab results, appointment notes • App activity: journal entries, exercise completions, worry monster entries, forum posts • Technical data: device type, app version, crash reports (no personal identifiers)
We use your data exclusively to: • Power the Brave Joints app features for your family • Allow you and co-parents to access the same family data • Provide AI-assisted responses in the Parent Ask feature (queries are sent to Anthropic's Claude API) • Send email reminders you have opted into We do NOT use your data for advertising, analytics profiling, or sale to third parties.
Brave Joints complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If your child is under 13: • We require verifiable parental consent before collecting any information about your child • We collect only what parents provide: child's first name, age, JIA type, and health check-ins that the parent or child enters • We do not display advertising to children • We do not share children's personal information with third parties except as necessary to operate the app • Parents may review, edit, or delete their child's data at any time from Settings → Privacy & Data • To exercise parental rights or withdraw consent, contact us at privacy@bravejoints.app
We share your data only with: • Anthropic (Claude AI): when you use the Parent Ask AI feature, your query and conversation history are processed by Anthropic's API. Anthropic's privacy policy applies. • Base44: the platform on which this app is built handles authentication, database storage, and infrastructure. We never sell your data. We never share it for advertising. The community forum shows only your chosen display name — never your real name or your child's real name.
Your data is stored as long as your account is active. You may delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Privacy & Data → Delete My Account. Upon deletion, all family profiles, health data, journal entries, and associated records are permanently removed within 30 days.
Your data is stored securely on Base44's infrastructure. Family data is isolated — one family cannot see another family's data. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Clinicians and partner organizations can read a plain-language summary on our "Privacy & Security for Clinicians" page (/security).
